Patricia García Santos is a predoctoral researcher (FPI) in the Department of English and German Philology. She holds a dual degree in Translation & Interpreting and English Studies from the University of Córdoba and has completed a Master’s in Secondary Education Teaching, which she pursued alongside a Master’s in Advanced English Studies.
She has undertaken two international experiences thanks to the Erasmus+ mobility program at the University of Kent (Canterbury, United Kingdom) and Université Libre de Bruxelles (Brussels, Belgium). Upon completing her master’s studies, she participated in a short-term course on Scottish Literature at the University of Edinburgh (United Kingdom) with the support of the UCO Global Summer 2024 grant.
Her doctoral thesis is supervised by Professor Paula Martín Salván, principal researcher of the project PID2019-104526GB-I00, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. This project, developed in collaboration with the University of Granada, is titled “Poetics and Politics of Transparency in Contemporary Literature in English.” Her research explores the tension between the demands for transparency that characterize contemporary societies and the inherent opacity of languages and linguistic systems, particularly those shared within specific communities. Within this framework, she examines how this tension is represented in contemporary English-language literature through stylistic and thematic structures.
